Three years ago I lost my uncle, cousin and grandfather all within the same year. My grandfather passed from lung cancer, my cousin was a victim due to the senseless violence in Chicago and my uncle died from heartache and despair from losing my cousin (his son). Although years have passed. I think about each of them everyday and my heart longs to hug them just one more time. However, although very hard to, I have accepted that they won’t “be home for the holidays”.
Today is Thanksgiving and I am so thankful however, as we approach the holiday season, I can’t help but think about all who are battling and in deep despair in this season. What is a joyous season to many is truly a struggle to others. There are women who are battling cancer, depression, the loss of their mother/father/child, barely hanging on to their marriage, moms sitting beside the hospital bed of their child and women serving away in the military. There are women today who had to work long hours to provide, having to miss out on being with family. This is all happening today. My heart goes out to those women and each every woman pressing through to find joy and peace in this season.
L.A.W. (Ladies After Wisdom), maybe you are the woman having a hard time this season. Maybe it is you that are silently struggling. I want you to know I love you. Yes, I know I may possibly be many miles away but I’m praying for you today. I want to encourage you that although this season may be difficult for you, you are loved, valued, strong and worthy. I need you to find one thing today that you are grateful for, just one thing and rest in that. Focus your mind and heart on that one thing and receive the joy from that. Let no despair or heartache overtake you today. Times may be hard, but that doesn’t take away that God is still good. No worries today, laugh, sing, dance and be grateful.
L.A.W., maybe this is your favorite time of year and you are excited. The turkey is out the oven and you have family waiting on you…. I am so happy for that and I share your joy with you. However, reach out to a hurting woman today and encourage her. Uplift her spirit today and help her find that one thing to be grateful for.
We all have at least one good thing to be grateful for and that comes from the Lord. I love you. All is well.
“Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.”-James 1:17 (REV)
Read: James 1:17
Affirmation: I am grateful for every good thing in my life because I know it comes from the Lord.
Prayer: Father, I love you. I praise you and worship you. Today Father, there are hurting women. Women who are truly struggling this season. I ask Father, that you send them an encouraging word to uplift their spirits. Father, put new hope and renewed joy in their life. Ease their pain.
In Jesus Name, Amen
