Who Gon Check Me Boo?

who gon check me boo
In the words of Sheree from Real Housewives of Atlanta, my mantra for 2016 is “Who Gon Check Me Boo?” Last Sunday at church, my pastor preached on creating a new start and conquering your fears to live out your purpose. I started to think about all of the things I want to do, the things God wants me to do and how I was irrationally afraid of doing some of these things.

Two scriptures came to mind immediately because I know God doesn’t want us being afraid and living in fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 states ” For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” God never planned for us to live in fear. We are to live boldly. So why are we afraid when God gives us an assignment? Why are we afraid of trying new things? My personal favorite Joshua 1:9,  This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” If this scripture here doesn’t make you want to go out and conquer the world, then I don’t know what to tell you. God is with you WHEREVER you go. In the good times, He is there, and also in the bad times. Knowing that God is with me every step of the way and that one of His wishes for me is to be courageous and bold makes me wanna holler “Who Gon Check Me Boo?? When you are being obedient to God, living in the purpose He has for your life, using your talents to glorify Him, and being a blessing to others, there is nothing the enemy can do to stop you. When you feel/see those weapons forming, you are going to have to step back and tell the devil “don’t come for me, because I didn’t send for you!”
Queen, if you are currently doubting yourself, your abilities, and your overall dopeness, know that this is not what God has planned for your life. That is the enemy’s plan. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, dictate what you can’t do. Yes, you may try something and it not work out. Ecclesiastes 7:8 states ” Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride.” At least you tried and there is always a lesson to be learned. We have a couple more days in 2015. Let’s close out those old chapters in our lives like fear, doubt, insecurity, low self esteem, jealousy, and anything else that is holding you back from being your best. Let’s start 2016 with a mindset of healing, as it may take some time to get over those old chapters, but we shouldn’t dwell there. Remember, NOTHING is too big for God. He will forgive you if you go to Him with a sincere heart and a mind open to change. Welcome Him into your life with an open heart, He is waiting on you with open arms.
Write down your plans for 2016, and the steps you want to take to achieve those goals. Don’t be ashamed. Don’t worry about what other people are going to think of your list, it’s not for them. You will encounter some naysayers in your life, don’t let them deter you. Just hit them with the “Who Gon Check Me Boo?” if they get out of pocket. Pray to God to help guide you in the steps to take to achieve your goals. He will place the proper resources in your path to help you succeed. Now, you do have to put in work, don’t expect God to just rain down blessings, he isn’t a genie. Faith without works is dead. Don’t believe me? Go read James 2:14-26….I’ll wait.
You may ask, “How can this phrase be applied to my daily life?” Read on Queen:
  • When fear and doubt (and any other feeling that isn’t a part of God’s plan) start to rise up
  • When other people doubt your dopeness and try to belittle your plans
  • When things just don’t seem to be going right that day
  • When folks on your job aren’t acting right
  • When your husband or significant other isn’t acting right
  • When the kids aren’t acting right
Reading the Word, praying over your situation, adjusting your crown (you ARE a Queen, right??), and reciting the phrase will get you right together!
What are your goals for 2016?
What are some things people told you (or you might have told yourself) that you couldn’t do, but deep down you wanted to do?
What are your talents?
I want to challenge you (and myself) to be great and pray for other women to be bold to live out their dreams.
Let’s make 2016 great Queens!!
