We all made plans at a young age on how our lives would be as we became adults. I had this plan where by the time I was 25 I was going to have my Master’s degree in something, be married, and maybe have a kid. I was going to be making decent money, drive a nice car, etc. Wellllll let me tell you something, God laughs at our plans.
He already has plans in place for us. We always stray off of that path. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We have good intentions when we come up with plans for our life, but God’s plans are always better. We may not see it at the time though. We may struggle, cry, fight before we reach the blessing of His plan, but it’s all worth it in the end. Some of our well intentioned plans put us in situations we would rather not be in and we end up crying out to God to deliver us anyway, so let’s just roll with His plans to begin with! So you are probably wondering how my “plans” turned out. Well by the time I was 25, I did not have my Master’s degree yet and I was not married. These things happened at 28 and 31. Thinking back, was I ready to be married at 25?? UMM NO! I tell my husband all the time that he probably would not have liked me a few years before he met me, I was not wife material. The mental state I was in was self destructive and I had no regard for anyone but myself…pure selfishness if we are being real about the situation. Only God got me to the place I am at now and there is still PLENTY of work to do…PLENTY. God doesn’t need our help with what to do with our lives. Honestly, our “help” usually messes things up unless it aligns with His will for our life. Sometimes I get to the point where I am not sure what in the world I should be doing with my life. I wonder what my purpose is, or start questioning my gifts that He gave me and what to do with them. I have to pause and just talk to Him and listen to what He has to say. I’m usually overreacting anyway when I get into that headspace.
God’s plan for my life (and yours) is WAY grander than anything you could plan for yourself. He has a greater purpose for you. He will plant dreams, aspirations, and ideas into your spirit that only He can bring to fruition. You will not be able to accomplish these things with your own power. His grace, mercy, and strength will have you in places you never dreamed you could, would, or should be. You will uncover gifts you did not know you possessed. God doesn’t place limits on our greatness, we do that all on our own. We do that with doubt and fear, we let other people place those destructive thoughts in our head. John 10:10 says the devil ONLY comes to steal, kill, and destroy. The devil does not want you living in the purpose that God has for your life and he will try everything to stop it. You already have the victory with God. We all know who wins this fight, but you have to be ready to fight and to recognize when the enemy is on your territory because he is sneaky.
To be honest, I am struggling right now because I KNOW I am hindering the great things God has for me, but putting those things into action have me in a place of fear. There is nothing to fear with God on your side. I let the devil sneak into my house, not on purpose but because I didn’t have the right defenses up. I also didn’t have the right offensive weapons at the ready. It’s a constant battle. The enemy will come for you, your kids, your husband, your family, and anything else you love and God has put in your life. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready Queens. Ephesians 6:10-18 speaks on how to fight the enemy with the full armor of God. Put it on, keep it on, and never take it off because the enemy is always lurking around the corner waiting on you to slip up. You have the power to defeat the enemy, don’t think that you are powerless. Allow God to fight with you and for you. You MUST be obedient and do you part though. God will ask you to do things that do not make any sense in your human mind, but they are for your good. God will turn things around for you. They may not be how or when you want them, but His plan is always better than any plan you can ever conjure up.
How did God change the plans you had for yourself? How was His plan better than yours?
