It Will Take Longer Than A Day

We must remind ourselves Rome wasn't built in a day

The bathroom is completely gutted out. The toilet, sink and tub. Drywall torn off and pipes and tools spread out everywhere. Dust and debris seeping through the vents and loud noises of saws and hammers echo throughout my home. A remodeling project that should have a taken a few days manifested to a few weeks. As my home is in disarray, I constantly repeat in my mind “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. However, home remodeling projects aren’t the only reason to remind ourselves of this truth. When anything is being improved, including ourselves, it doesn’t happen in a day and we must be reminded to be patient.

Beginning a new project is exciting, at first. The difficult part is waiting for the finished product. So often we begin to lose weight, pursue a degree and conquer an addiction or fear, yet we become discouraged when the end result takes longer than expected or it’s not as simple as we thought it would be. I’m convinced that each time we move towards growth, whether it is spiritually, physically or whichever area, that there may be set backs. However, each set back has wisdom to be learned, if we seek it. We have to trust God that through our growth, he is leading us to victory.

And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.- Galatians 6:9 ASV

Ladies After Wisdom (L.A.W), I have yet to visit Rome, it is definitely on my bucket list. Each time I think of Rome, I think of it to be beautiful, intriguing and strong. With so much history and elegance, it draws me in to know and learn more. For Rome, Italy to be that beautiful, I’m aware it took time to build and faced many trials. No one will ever truly understand what it took to build during those centuries, because we weren’t present. However, as beautiful as it is, the city is constantly growing. New buildings, structures and elements are being added often, making the city even more gorgeous.

L.A.W (Ladies After Wisdom), if we are seeking God, He is constantly building and adding to us …just like Rome. Wisdom and growth is being added daily. And you must stay convinced that the good work He began in you will be perfected (Phil 1:6). Push through those set backs and don’t give up. Keep the desired goal at the forefront of your mind. The Lord is proud of you, that you are seeking growth; becoming healthier, finishing school, writing a book, breaking a bad habit…whatever it may be. Continue to press on and do good. During your journey, you may fall or slip up. Be patient with yourself. Lacking patience will cause much anxiety and stress and you don’t need that. Also be patient with others, your spouse and children, God is working on them as well. I love you. All is well ;o).

Read: Galatians 6:9, Philippians 1:6

Affirmation: Rome wasn’t built in a day, therefore I am patient with myself and others.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for today. Thank You for Your grace and mercy that continues to present itself in my life daily. Father, I thank You for giving me the desire to grow. And for supplying me with the tools needed. Bless me Father, not to grow weary or give up during the difficult time. Strengthen me Lord, to be patient with myself and others during this journey.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
