Can you believe we are halfway through 2016? Went by fast huh? Did you make a New Year’s Resolution? How has it been going? Is it going like you expected, better or like most, have you forgotten what your New Year’s Resolution is? Have you been thrown off a bit by kids, spouse and work? Did life happen? In the past, I would find myself making resolutions and then a month in, either forgetting about them or completely disregarding it. Once I had noticed I was months into the new year, I would just wait for the next year and start all over again. However, for a few years now, I have chosen not to make a resolution. I have found a more unique approach with ensuring my growth, success and abundance in successfully conquering the New Year.
According to some recent polls, a little over 45% of Americans (roughly 143,000,000 ppl) make New Year’s Resolutions and out of that only 8% (less than 25,000,000 people) successfully achieve it. Normally, people have 3-5 (or more) resolutions that they are working on, such as lose weight, save money, spend more time with family, be kinder and so on. That is a lot of areas to put attention to. Have you ever heard the saying, The wealthy get wealth by focusing on one thing at a time. That little saying has helped me to focus just on one thing that helps me create the results I desire. I choose one word for the year.
In 2015 my word that I chose was Love. Each morning it was the first thing I thought of and each night it was the last thing that I thought of before going to bed. Each day I kept it at the forefront on my mind. Throughout the day I meditated on it, while driving, bathing, drawing, swimming etc. Because that word was consciously on my mind, I walked in it. I found that Love covers a multitude of areas; patience with kids, dealing with difficult people, living a healthier lifestyle and so on. I found myself reacting better to situations and circumstances because Love was on my mind.
“…in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 ESV
Each year before choosing my word, I pray and seek God to help me make the right choice. Above all, I want to please Him and ensure that I am growing spiritually. For 2016, my word is Disciplined. It helps me to hold myself accountable for things I know I need to do. Whether it be with business or personal matters.
Ladies After Wisdom (L.A.W.), how is your 2016 going? Did you backslide on your goals for 2016. It’s not too late to pick it back up and move in the right direction. Spend some time this week with God and seek what direction He would like you to go in for the 2nd half of 2016. Seek what area and word that he wants you to focus on and do just that. Does it mean that you year will be perfect, without challenges and difficulties…no. However, just know whatever word the Lord places on you, it is equipping you for the remainder of the year and preparing you for what’s in store.
L.A.W. (Ladies After Wisdom), each one of us have areas in life that we struggle with. Some with jealousy, guilt, hatred, fear, shame, procrastination and so on. The word that God will reveal to you will most likely go hand in hand with your struggle. Such as, if you struggle with jealousy, your word may be Contentment. Guilt may be Freedom and so on. What God reveals to you may not be just one word but a phrase or scripture. I encourage you that whatever it may be, focus on it daily. Meditate on it and keep it at the forefront of your mind. You will be amazed at the growth and success you have achieved at the end of 2016. L.A.W., I pray for you daily. I love you. All is well ;o)

Wisdom Affirmation: The 2nd half of 2016 will be even better than the first. I am constantly moving in the right direction of growth.
Prayer: Father, it’s me again. Thank you for Your continued love and grace in my life. Father, my deepest desire is to grow into the woman you have designed me to be. I desire to be more like Christ daily. Father, I ask that You reveal to me what I need to focus on for the remainder of 2016, to grow in wisdom and maturity. Once you show me Father, bless me to be eager in mediating and living out Your will for me.
In Jesus Name, Amen
