The Bible mentions several instances where living a frugal life is wise. Frugality is the careful use of one’s money or resources. Are you conscious about your finances? Unwasteful with regard to what you have? Are you cautious when it comes to spending? God’s Word instructs us to be wise with our resources. Are you a frugal woman?
Some people have been blessed with much wealth and some has been blessed with little. Yet regardless of what we have, it’s still a blessing and God directs us to be wise in our spending. The Bible speaks of money several times. Living in a world where materialism runs rapid and money consciousness is not often taught, I’ve shared some bible verses that highlights the importance in using our resources and money wisely. In an effort to create and build wealth.
“House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.” -Prov 19:14
The prudent wife is one who gives thought and care for the future. A woman who is consciously planning and becoming prepared. We can be prudent wives by budgeting and also saving a portion of the household income each month. A husband is truly blessed to have a wife that isn’t trying to “keep up with the Jones” and are living within means.
“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children….” -Prov 13:22
How can we leave an inheritance for our children if we don’t spend wisely? What a blessing it would be to our children, when we pass on, for them to have no financial worries because we were wise to invest, build and save. We need to be wise to use what we earn to invest/build wealth and pass inheritance on to the ones we love.
“One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; And another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.” -Prov 13:7
Just because you have it to spend, doesn’t mean you necessarily should. Let’s not get caught up in materialism and pride. It’s wise to humble and modest in what we have. I once read a story of an elderly woman, upon her death, she had donated over 2 million to a local charity. Her neighbors was in awe because she was retired, lived in a very small home and lived an extremely modest life. She had the money to spend but did not.
I’d like to call myself frugal and a prudent wife. Yet, I know there are areas I can improve in. Just one thing off top that I know I could do is make time to cut coupons to save more money. Some steps I do take, I’m not concerned with labels, what’s quality and on sale to me is what matters, we are always looking for a bargain, we see every purchase as an investment, we invest our money and save each month. Most, if not all millionaires that I have met are modest and very frugal. They don’t “look” like millionaires. It’s not always what you see on TV ;o)
Ladies After Wisdom (L.A.W), in this generation, there are many women who aren’t considering the future. I understand that we are to “live in the present moment” and “be anxious for nothing” yet, we are always to use wisdom and remain conscious of the future. If we can be frugal in our spending and come up with creative ideas to make certain things “stretch” for our families, we can save more, invest more and build more.
L.A.W. (Ladies After Wisdom), our Heavenly Father is aware of the way we spend. If we are grateful and wise with what we have, He will bless us with more (and the wisdom to obtain more). It’s perfectly ok to treat you and your family to great things, however create a budget, stick to it and watch your finances grow. Take time to learn about investing, read and educate yourself about how to make your money work for you. Have a vision for your finances and make a plan. There are so many great resources out there to help…just google. L.A.W., I pray for you daily. I love you. All is well ;o).
Read: Proverbs 13:7, 13:22, 19:14
Affirmation: I am a frugal woman, I am consciously planning for the future.
Prayer: Hi Father, it’s me again. Thank You for my many blessings. Thank You for the wisdom in your word. Father, I live in a world where material things matter. Help me Father to not get caught up in that. Help me Lord, to live a life that is pleasing unto you (Col 1:10). Forgive me Lord, for past mistakes I have made with money. Give me wisdom. Connect me Father to the right people and resources for guidance. Teach me Lord to build wealth. Bless me Lord to leave a great inheritance to my children.
In Jesus Name, Amen
