More Than A Conqueror

Let me tell you something… nobody encounters fear more than me. I can almost promise you that. I am one of the most scariest folks you want to meet. I’m the chick who scared myself with my own hand once! (Don’t ask…) Fear will step to you, stand square in your face and stare you down until you are paralyzed if you allow it to. But inasmuch as I tend to be fearful, I have learned over time how to feel the fear and do it anyway. I have gone through enough situations to know that I am more than a conqueror.

I am no stranger to confrontation or to being transparent at this point. I have lost enough to know what it feels and looks like and not fear that happening again. And I have seen God deliver me more times than I can count, so I am not afraid of being abandoned or forsaken. As Romans 8:37 says: “Yet in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loves us.” Basically it is saying, no matter what circumstance we face, we still win!

The definition of the word conqueror is a person who has successfully overcome a problem or weakness. I can’t think of many folks that this doesn’t apply to. Have you ever had an issue with a friend, family member or co-worker that was resolved better than you thought it would be? Have you ever had a bill you didn’t have quite enough money for, but somehow it got paid? Anybody ever been sick but now you’re well? Who’s made major lifestyle changes and lost weight? Did you get rid of that no-good, abusive boyfriend and start flourishing? Better yet, who has been so heartbroken you couldn’t eat or sleep, but now your nights are restful and meals are plentiful? Sounds like a conqueror to me!

Now what makes you more than a conqueror? Having an advocate on your side who always causes you to triumph! If you know Jesus, you cannot lose! That might sound crazy if you’ve never experienced triumph through Him. But you have. Look back at the last paragraph. Then read my last blog. You aren’t winning because of you. Who are you anyway other than a conqueror through Him that loves us?!

So the next time fear steps to you, stands square in your face and stares you down, feel it, own it, and bulldoze past it knowing you have already successfully overcome whatever problem or weakness you face! Go forth, sis!
