Restoration

As I’ve sat here thinking about what to write about this week, I drew a blank. I didn’t have much to talk about as the most monumental thing that has happened to me recently was already recounted in my last entry. Then, seemingly out of nowhere I heard “restoration.” So that’s what I will dissect today.

Restoration is the act of returning something to a former owner, place, or condition. It presumes that something was out of place, distorted or mishandled and needed to be brought back to its rightful place. When I look at my life in its current state and all of the miracles that are taking place, I have to say I am in a season of restoration. Everywhere I turn, it is confirmed to me too. Read More →

The Faces of God – My Testimony

The Faces of GodI now know God differently. I know a new side of Him. I can testify about it. Revelation 12:11 says we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. So here I am to share my testimony with you because I am an overcomer. If you want some juicy scoop about me, here, I’m dishing. Read on…

Forgiveness

ForgivenessForgive:

to stop feeling anger toward (someone who has done something wrong)

to stop blaming (someone)

to stop feeling anger about (something)

to stop requiring payment of (a debt that is owed)

Forgiveness is a tough subject to address. To properly deal with it requires drudging up old feelings, confronting ourselves (and others) with painful truths that have been buried. It can be like pulling the scab off of a wound and pouring salt in it. Painful. Something we’d rather not think about and pretend to have moved on. But what happens when the stain of not forgiving manifests itself in seemingly unrelated areas of your life? How do you reconcile past hurts, forgive yourself, and continue to follow God’s command to love others as yourself?

Hope and Change: 8 Years of Black Excellence

Hope and Change - 8 Years of Black ExcellenceLast night I cried. Hard. I’ve cried many nights before, but last night was much different. Tears of lost hope streamed down my face as I came to the realization that when I woke up today Barack Hussein Obama would no longer be the leader of the free world. Damn. How did we get here?  Read More →

Inconveniently Out of the Way

inconveniently out of the wayYou wanna know where greatness and success reside? Inconveniently out of the way. – Myleik Teele

I was scrolling Instagram looking for inspiration for my next blog post and TWICE in a row on my newsfeed the above quote from Myleik Teele, founder of Curlbox, popped up. I wanted to write about my departure from my job. Wednesday was my last day in the office although technically today was my last day. I needed to get it out of my system because it stung. And this quote made the difference.

Some Things Remain

Some Things RemainIt is New Year’s Eve. By now I’m sure you’ve read a bazillionty posts on social media exclaiming, “New Year, New Me!” or “I’m not taking this into 2017!” Resolutions have never been so at home except the weeks surrounding the cusp of a new sun revolution. I have been reflecting. A LOT. Like, my brain is on fire because so many epiphanies and revelations have bombarded it. It’s comforting to know God still speaks to us – if we listen. Amidst all the changes that will be taking place, some things remain.  Read More →

For the Single Sistas – Don’t Settle

For the Single Sistas - Don't Settle!I could write a blog about not settling in every area of our lives. Especially as we enter a new year and consider things that we want to change in 2017. But I want to encourage the single sistas not to settle in dating. Making a decision to join your life with someone is a huge one and shouldn’t be taken lightly or without much prayer and assurance. So, I’ll say it now and repeat it a few more times: ladies don’t settle! Read More →

For the Single Sista – Fear of Love

For the Single SIsta - Fear of LoveThere is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear.

Hey ladies! I’m back again to talk about singleness – specifically how sometimes we sabotage our own happiness in relationships. I know most of us don’t want to admit when we’ve messed things up. It’s always easy to blame the other person. But when you want to change and get different results, you have to take a mature look at yourself and how you’ve contributed to your situation. After all, we can’t change anyone else but we can change our own behavior. Fear of love is a real thing. Let’s unpack it.

For the Single Sista

For the Single SistasMy blog sister Aquilla always writes about being a mommy and a wife and gives wisdom to other moms and wives. Meanwhile, I’m the single sista holding down my own corner of the world. And I appreciate her space because it helps me prepare for what I desire to have – a strong family and marriage. But I need to speak to the single ladies today. We need to be encouraged and uplifted too. We need validation in our singleness as well. So here’s a few words for the single sista who may be discouraged.  Read More →
